Tamela is looking for Burrito’s biggest fan to buy a one-of -a-kind handmade Burrito belt buckle (see photo below).

She also has very cool paperweights for sale in her online Etsy shop with interchangeable photos of the Cle Elum Seven, so you can spend each day with a different chimpanzee image!

Fundraising Update – OMG! $10,000 in 1 week

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

This week was really incredible in terms of donations towards our 2nd Anniversary Fundraising. We received a $5,000 grant from the Tony Stewart Foundation (share this page with all of your race-loving friends) and over $5,000 in individual donations!! This means  we have only $17,332 to raise by June 13th to reach our ultimate goal of $45,000 and three more chimp-proof windows. We are getting so close! Don’t slow down now!

There are two new supporter fundraising pages:

Jeani Goodrich (no relation to me) has a Firstgiving page set up. With every $25 donation, she’ll send you something special, starting with wood-burned pins made by Diane Frederick of Fredericks Firegraphics (see the Foxie pin to the left.)

Donate now to get your pick of chimpanzee for the pin.

Cindy Marks has set up an Etsy store to sell handmade  bracelets with the chimps’ names on them. All net proceeds will go to the sanctuary. Each bracelet includes a picture card of the chimpanzee you select. Most bracelets include African wedding beads to honor their heritage.

She has created a very sweet BFF Missy and Annie bracelet (see photo at left) with intertwined strands representing Annie and Missy’s devotion to each other.

Shop now and check back often for new designs!

And don’t forget these other ways that you can donate to the sanctuary while supporting those who are raising funds:

You can also make a direct donation to the sanctuary. 45 days to go…. we can reach our goal with your help! Thank you, everyone!

Beautify your space, make life more beautiful for the Cle Elum Seven

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Before

If you’ve been to any CSNW events, you’ve seen the work of Pam Lehnert. Pam is an expert at transforming spaces. She actually has a business doing just that. For the last eight years, she’s worked with real estate agents and others with Home Staging Consultations.

To help us reach our 2nd Anniversary Fundraising goal and give the chimpanzees three more glass windows, Pam is offering personal staging consultation services at a reduced rate of $50 per hour, with 100% of the fees going to the Cle Elum Seven.

After Pam worked her magic

You don’t have to be selling your home to benefit from Pam’s expertise, and you don’t have to be embarking on a complete remodel. Pam will work with your space and your stuff and help you transform it into something better.

For the time period between now and October 1st, she is expanding her normal work zone to include not only the Seattle area, but Cle Elum and Roslyn too, so be sure to spread the word to all of your Westside and Upper County friends!

Pam is also donating a percentage of all of her business consultation fees from January 2010 to October 1st. What a great way to give to her chimpanzee friends through her own entrepreneurship! Learn more on Pam’s Firstgiving page.

$980 away!!

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Thanks to a generous offline donation from Barb, we’re $500 closer to reaching the $7,000 goal! Only three days left – donate today for Negra and in celebration of the Cle Elum Seven’s first year in sanctuary: http://www.firstgiving.com/chimpsanctuarynw

Four Days, $1565 – can we do it?

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Thanks to really awesome supporter-fundraisers, we have raised $5,435 on our Firstgiving pages towards the goal of $7,000 by the end of June. I have been amazed at the success of the supporters of the Cle Elum Seven, and can’t thank you all enough!!

We’re still $1565 away from reaching our goal, and there are only four days left.
So, I’m writing this post while I’m on vacation and way past the time when I should be sleeping because I’m wondering if we’ll be able to do it.

I know we can.

Please donate to Negra’s page today or take a look at the other wonderful pages set up by supporters. Margaret is still offering to paint a portrait of the chimpanzee of your choice in exchange for a donation (her paintings are absolutely amazing), Grace is still offering cards with animal illustrations by artist Colin Redmon (who is uber-talented), and Tamela is still offering to make chimpanzee footprint pendants (I have one and it is really cool!). Plus there are many other people who have pages set up and are offering fabulous things in exchange for a donation (including simply the good feeling you get when you support a friend and a good cause) – check them all out, give, and help me sleep easy knowing we’ve reached our goal.

26 days, $4120 to go!

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

We’re not quite to the halfway mark in our one year anniversary fundraising, and there are only 26 days to go. We have some new fundraisers who are participating that you have to check out – read below for details.

You can chose to make a donation to Negra’s page or through one or more of the creative fundraisers who have created their own pages.

You can also create a page of your own by clicking the firstgiving button below. The key to success is letting all of your contacts know about your fundraising effort! Tamela Burgess, for example, set a goal of raising $350 and has already raised $660 and is still going! See Tamela’s page for inspiration. And Pam Lehnert is only $85 away from reaching her fundraising goal of $700!

You don’t have to offer anything in return for your donation – you just have to let your friends and family know what you are up to. You can also pledge to do something grand (like run a half marathon) or mundane (like get your haircut, finally) as a way to motivate friends to give.

Some of the new folks who are raising funds for the Cle Elum Seven:

Grace Enlow is working with artist Colin Redmon and is providing limited edition greeting card packs with illustrations of animals. For a donation of only $10, you can choose six cards from 10 illustrations of different animals. Colin is super talented, and $10 for a pack of cool cards is quite a bargain, plus all of the money raised goes towards the chimpanzees! Check out Grace’s fundraising page for more details.

Sara Lissabet has created one-of-a-kind glass pendants with the number “7″ on them to commemorate the Cle Elum Seven. The 2″ pendants are hand cut and fused green glass with a black border. Everytime you sport the pendant, which Sara will send for a donation of $70 or more, you’ll be reminded of the Cle Elum 7 and you can tell others what the pendant represents. Check out Sara’s fundraising page to donate.

Michelle Coburn from Rabbit Ridge Designs has a pretty cool deal for knitters out there – she is offering a free hat, scarf or glovelet kit (includes yarn and pattern) for donations of $50 or more. You can also choose to re-gift your kit to the sanctuary, and the cost of the kit will be given to CSNW in cash – increasing your donation. Check out Michelle’s fundraising page and get crafty!

Margaret Parkison’s offer to paint a portrait of one of the chimpanzees of YOUR choice is still available. What better way to remember the Cle Elum Seven than to have a beautiful painting to look at every day? Check out Margaret’s fundraising page and see the amazing oil painting she did of Jody for the sanctuary.

Thanks so much to all of the wonderful fundraisers and to those who are supporting them by donating through their pages!! Let’s make that halfway mark by tomorrow!

Chimpanzee footprint pendants / Fundraising update

Sunday, May 24th, 2009

Another great fundraising page was added by Tamela! She is an artist and jewelry maker and will send a really cool chimpanzee footprint pendant (see photo below) to those who donate on her page. There are six folks who now have fundraising pages and we’ve raised almost $2,000!! We need $5,000 more to go by June 30th to reach the goal. You can still have a portrait of one of the Cle Elum Seven painted just for you and have a four-course meal delivered to your Seattle home, or you can choose to support a friend who’s started a page. To see all of the fundaising pages, click here. For more details, including how to start your own page, see our Help Us Fundraise page.

Thanks for helping us celebrate one year of sanctuary life and Negra’s birthday!

Painting of the chimpanzee of your choice and/or a four course meal!

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

CSNW supporters never cease to impress me with their dedication and creativity! If you are a subscriber to our e-newsletter, you saw that we have set a goal of raising $7,000 by the end of June to celebrate the first anniversary of the chimpanzees arrival to Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest. We’ve chosen to celebrate Negra’s birthday on that day too. Her release to sanctuary means so much to her and to all of us, so we’re asking our supporters to help us raise the $7,000 (and “secretly” hoping we can exceed that goal). Check out our help us fundraise page for details.

A few people have taken on the fun task of creating their own unique fundraising page.

Nicole’s already received some donations through her fundraising page which she is promoting through Facebook – yay!

Margaret has offerred to paint a portrait of the chimpanzee of your choice for a donation of $700!! Below is a photo of a painting Margaret did of Jody. I can’t say enough about this painting – she really captured the vibrancy of Jody’s spirit, and seeing it in person is no comparison to seeing the photo. I am personally very tempted to donate just to get a painting (of Negra) for myself – but I’ll give you all a chance first. Visit her page for more details: www.firstgiving.com/margaretparkinson

Pam’s fundraising page reveals that she is offerring to cook a four course meal and deliver it to donors in Seattle who give through her page by June 8th. She’s going to be cooking food that she has also made for the chimps (Pam is one of the chimps’ personal chefs – we call her the Martha Stewart of the chimp house volunteers). Below is a photo of one of the many meals she has made for the Cle Elum Seven. You may also remember photos of her Valentine’s Day treats. Visit her page for details on what she will cook for you! www.firstgiving.com/pamlehnert
