Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest (CSNW) is currently home to seven chimpanzees released from biomedical research. This group, the Cle Elum Seven, arrived at the sanctuary on June 13, 2008.

Seven chimpanzees arrived at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest in June of 2008 after years of testing and breeding in biomedical laboratories.
Sanctuary caregivers immediately began documenting the chimpanzees' emerging personalities and transformations at the sanctuary by taking photos and recounting events.

Oh how beautiful and what a powerful picture this is showing the change in Negra over the past 3 3/4 years. You can see the peace and contentment radiating from her and showing deep in her eyes. Thank you for sharing.
Fresh air, bright light, sunshine, plenty of fresh food, and both human and chimp companionship. Negra certainly has learned she’s living the good life now.
