CSNW Caregiver Exercise Program
Tuesday, July 13th, 2010Next to Missy, Burrito and Foxie are probably CSNW’s biggest goofs (chimp-wise, anyway) and balancing games of chase between the two of them can be quite a workout. I couldn’t ask for better personal trainers. :)

Friday, July 9th, 2010Yesterday was hot, hot, hot here in Cle Elum, so the chimps spent quite a bit of time lounging around their indoor playroom. As you can see, Jamie is still rarely caught without a pair of cowboy boots (notice she has one by her head and another in her hip pocket).
Felicty Day x 4
Friday, July 9th, 2010This is getting fun! Today is the fourth in a series of Felicity Days.
For her birthday this year, Felicity Wood asked/persuaded/cajoled her friends and family into donating to the sanctuary in lieu of birthday gifts. As a result, we are celebrating Felicity for several days throughout the year. Today’s day is from Marl Kane. Thank you Marl and thank you, Felicity, for helping us all those months ago with our 2nd Anniversary Fundraising!
Happy Felicity Day x 4 from Jamie, Negra, Jody, Missy, Annie, Foxie and Burrito.
Check out the Sponsor-a-Day calendar and pick a day for honoring a loved one or celebrating a special day in your life.
There’s really nothing like a kiss from Negra :)

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010Bounty of trolls
Tuesday, July 6th, 2010This morning I watched Foxie gather what may have been the largest number of trolls she has ever carried at one time. She had a troll scarf, a sock full of trolls, and probably seven or eight loose trolls. It took her a few minutes just to figure out how she could hold them all at once.
In case you were wondering, she did it by holding the sock and scarf in one hand, a couple trolls in the other hand, one troll in each foot, and one in her mouth.
She seemed quite satisfied with her collection. She spent the rest of the day passing trolls to her caregivers and initiating wild games of chase throughout the sanctuary.
Fourth of July Celebration
Monday, July 5th, 2010Yesterday got a little hectic, as often happens when working with chimps, so we decided to postpone our Fourth of July Celebration until today. Brandon Wood (check out his blog!), our amazing 9-year-old supporter, sponsored our party in honor of supporter Theresa Strunk’s birthday (surprise, Theresa!). He sent this awesome box of goodies for the party.
We feel horrible we couldn’t do the party on her actual birthday, but hopefully we’re making up for it now! It was a great party!
For the forage, we set out blue cups filled with red Gatorade and soy milk (red, white, and blue!)

And Brandon found this awesome Elmo pinata, which we filled with cherries and nuts!

…which Jamie, of course, thoroughly enjoyed!

But Jody managed to steal a few of the last bites. :)

Brandon also sent several Kong toys, which I filled with peanut butter. Annie LOVED it!
Thanks again, Brandon! And Happy (belated) Birthday, Theresa!! :)
