I bet you thought the only use for a crayon was to color…
By the way, that sound you hear Jamie making is called Lip Smacking and is associated with grooming.

How beautiful!
After spending a life in captivity, it is amazing that Jamie instinctively knows to lip smack while grooming. Is the lip smack used to pacify or calm the groomee?
I know y’all dedicate lots of energy to making the lives of the chimps comfortable and interesting … so I’m certainly not surprised, but nevertheless touched, that the chimps would feel close enough to y’all to want to groom you. :-)
Between the grooming and the smacking sound, which I like to hear, I’d be falling alseep.
I wonder if she could do anything with the age I have on the back of hand?
So intense, yet so gentle.
Jamie’s fingers are just so beautiful. I love close up shots like this. Thank you!
Leave it to our Jamie to use a crayon for other than coloring. Or was she trying to see if it would show up on skin as well as paper? What beautiful hands she has!
