About The Sanctuary
Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest (CSNW) is located on a 26-acre farm in the Cascade mountains, due east of Seattle. CSNW is one of only nine sanctuaries in the country that cares for chimpanzees.
CSNW was founded in 2003 to provide sanctuary for chimpanzees discarded from the entertainment and biomedical testing industries.
Our Mission
CSNW provides lifetime quality care for formerly abused or exploited chimpanzees, while advocating for great apes through education and collaboration.
Our Vision
We envision a future in which primates are no longer owned as pets, or exploited for entertainment and biomedical research. We envision a world where free-living non-human primate populations thrive.
Our Goals
Our goals are to provide sustainable sanctuary, end the use of great apes in entertainment, and facilitate collaboration to continuously improve the care of captive chimpanzees.
